Yoga is finding balance. It is the coming together of the opposites. When two opposing things come together, they meet at the center where there is no conflict and no resistance. Yoga is being centered. When we are centered and balanced we are peaceful, we live in harmony, and life is easy.

Yoga is finding the balance between your Inner Being and your Outer Being. It’s balancing Doing with Being, your inhale with your exhale, and balancing your past, present and future. It’s being grounded and centered.

Yoga is finding that place where you are in alignment with your two Selves; your Inner Being and your Outer Being. Your Inner Being is your Soul, your Higher Self, your Spirit, and/or God. Your Outer Being is ego (thoughts) and can be seen as your physical body. Yoga is finding balance between the two Beings so that you live a life that is pure joy, a life that is inspired by your Inner Being, not your ego.

Yoga is about diving deep within yourself, finding your Inner Being and letting the lightness of that Inner Being shine through. Your Inner Being naturally feels good and wants to feel good. This is positive. When we feel good, we know we are balanced because the best indicator of being out of balance is a negative feeling; whether it’s anger, jealousy, fear, anxiety, or any other negative emotion. It is our thoughts, or ego, that is bringing about that negative feeling and we experience an imbalance. When our life is out of balance we experience it as a struggle and feel discomfort. So yoga is finding that balance between our thoughts and our Inner Being.

When we find the lightness and positivity that is our Inner Being, it illuminates and that’s how we see yoga on the outside. We experience life with ease and grace. We experience kindness and well-being. Yoga is a way of life in which you feel good because you’re balanced. When your Outer Being and life experiences match that of your Inner Being (which is naturally good and well), you are balanced. You are centered!

Yoga is finding that place where we balance Doing with Being. Doing stems from our left brain. It’s how we get things done, how we organize, and how we think logically. Our left brain is where we find time (past, present, and future). It’s where we put stories together; whether they’re stories we completely create in our head or they’re stories based on what we think is reality (our perception of what happened or is happening). Our left brain is what separates us from each other.

Being stems from our right brain. In our right brain we only know the present moment. Our right brain is where we find compassion, non-judgment, and intuition. It’s how we surrender, and it’s where we realize we’re not separate from each other, but rather we’re all one.

When you are balanced, your Inner Being is leading you in all that you do so that your Inner Being inspires your actions. Yoga is about finding that balance between all the doing and effort that our left brain does with the being that our right brain is. It’s how we find comfort in the discomfort or peace in the chaos. Yoga is balance!

Yoga is giving attention to your breath, and finding the balance in that breath. There’s a space between the inhale and exhale, and in that space we find stillness, clarity, energy, and our Being. In order to feel that space you have to become aware of it. You have to become present.

Yoga is awareness; awareness of the present moment. In finding the present moment you find an awareness of your Inner Being. But it’s also about the awareness of your thoughts. It’s about being completely conscious of what’s going on in your mind, your body, and your soul. Awareness is vital to finding balance. Without awareness we don’t know where we are. We may think we know (left brain), but the only way to truly know is to become aware without judgment (right brain).

Physically, we become aware of where in our bodies we’re holding on or how something may make us feel. Mentally, we become aware of how we’re thinking and what “story” we’re telling ourselves over and over again. What judgments are we placing upon others and ourselves? And, how are we reacting to situations? Spiritually, we become aware that we are all one, and we learn to consciously lead from a place of love. That place of love is our Inner Being. It’s where everything feels good! When we gain this awareness we begin to understand that our internal world completely determines our external world.

Yoga is balancing your past, present, and future. It’s understanding that everything you’ve been through and are going through currently is a lesson, but at the same time understanding that your past doesn’t define who you are. Yoga is about accepting where you’ve been and where you are now and in that accepting, in that complete embrace, you start to feel better.

When we get to that place of acceptance, we stop blaming and we start loving and appreciating, and that feels good. Being in acceptance puts us in alignment with our Inner Being. When we bring our Inner Being up to meet our Outer Being, we know what to do. We understand that all we have to do is feel good. When we feel good (physically, mentally, and emotionally) we begin to see our external world reflect goodness back to us.

When we take our past as valuable lessons and we accept the present moment, then our future is bright! Our inner light is shining. We are joyful, at peace, and living in harmony. Things just seem to go our way, and life is simple. Yoga is never ending, but always secure. It’s something that we work on every day, every moment. Our Inner Being and Outer Being are one. We are centered. We are balanced.

If we feel good, if we feel love, if we feel at peace on the inside, then our life experience will reflect back to us the same. Yoga opens us up to the power, the peace, and the happiness that’s already inside of us just waiting to be found; waiting to become aware of. Yoga is a way of life. It’s balancing our internal world with the external, just as we breathe in and we breathe out.

Yoga is balance!
